Your family is totally unique, with your own style and personality, and at Portraits by Pear Tree photographic studio we’ll capture the magic between parents, children, grandparents and siblings. Let us take wonderful photos of you all together, which you can cherish forever. 


We cater for large and small family groups and of course pets are always extremely welcome. After all, they are a huge part of the family! We are a family photographer based in Grayshott near Haslemere, Liphook, Midhurst and Guildford, and families often join us from across Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex.

Get the family photos you’ve dreamed of 

Our family photoshoots are exciting, fun and very relaxed. Your photography shoot will be designed with your family and children in mind. We understand that some people are nervous and hate having their portraits taken, but we can assure you that we will make you feel completely comfortable and everyone will be having fun before you know it! 



There are no forced, unnatural poses during our family photo shoots. Children are free to play and make themselves familiar with the studio at the beginning of the shoot while our photographer makes everyone feel welcome.



Our family portrait shoots are split into two parts. We start with the main photography studio session, and then for the last 20 minutes we get the whole family in our large white box. We then use some editing wizardry to turn these into totally unique photos of you all. It’s a wonderful way to end the photoshoot on a high. Families love the box, as it’s a chance to be a little crazy, silly and just show off what you can do! Even grandparents have been known to rock the box!

How your family portrait session will work

Before your photoshoot

We’ll chat to you beforehand to ensure we know exactly what type of photos you're hoping for and find out more about your family. We’ll advise you about what to bring and wear and we are available to answer any questions along the way.

On the day

You will be welcomed into our Grayshott studio, where we’ll spend time getting your fantastic photos. We’ll advise you on poses and help even the shyest members of the family to relax. You can also try posing in our huge white box!

View your photos

After your portrait photo shoot you’ll be invited back to the studio to review your edited photos. Spend as much time as you need, and our team will be on hand to advise about prints and digital options, with no hard sell. This part is great fun too!

FAQs about family photoshoots

  • What is the price of a family photoshoot and how long is it?

    Our family photography sessions start at £120 which includes up to one hour in the studio, (longer shoots can be pre-booked if you wish). In that time our photographer will take many photos of everyone involved in the shoot.

  • What should we wear?

    Please feel free to bring different outfits, and we have a place where you can get changed. Dark and bright colours work best.

  • Should I bring anything with me to the shoot?

    Please feel free to bring anything you wish to the shoot – a favourite toy, book, blanket or anything your little ones would like included. Perhaps a football or scooter and we’ve even had a pet snake!

  • What happens after our family photoshoot?

    You will be invited back to the studio to view all of your beautifully edited images, which will be shown in our viewing room on a large projector. Your viewing session will be as relaxed and fun as the photography shoot. We always book two hours for the viewing session, so once again, there’s no rush. There’s no hard sell, as we want our clients to walk away beaming with joy and over the moon with what they have purchased.

  • Is there a limit to the amount of family members in the shoot?

    Large families are always welcome. We do recommend no more than eight people, but if you would like more, just let us know in advance. In the past we’ve had 14 family members in the studio at one time!
